Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality emergency care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement and evaluate
• Provide direct patient care and lead patient/family education with compassion and clarity
• Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to physicians and the care team
• Respond quickly and accurately to emergent changes in patient status and treatment response
• Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, and comply with EMTALA and abuse reporting requirements
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret rhythms as needed for patient safety
• Document thoroughly in Meditech EMR to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license (required)
• Minimum 1 year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital, Emergency Room preferred
• Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross), ACLS (AHA or Red Cross), and PALS (AHA or Red Cross)
• Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certification / DCI
• NIHSS certification and rhythm interpretation skills
• Meditech EMR experience
• Ability to float to other competent units when needed
• Current required health screenings and immunizations (TB, MMR, Hep B, Tdap, Fit Test, etc.)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing and patient assessment skills
• Proficient with Meditech electronic medical record documentation
• Telemetry knowledge and rhythm interpretation
• Familiarity with EMTALA regulations and reporting procedures
• Skilled in rapid triage, clinical decision-making, and crisis response
• Comfortable teaching patients/families and delegating to other nursing personnel
• Experience with prime testing/exams: pharmacology, rhythm, core competencies and skills checklists
