Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living to long-term care residents
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and feeding while preserving dignity and independence
- Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team to support great outcomes
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and observations
- Support infection prevention practices including vaccine- and screening-related protocols
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to create a safe, comforting environment
- Help with safe transfers and use of mobility aids following facility protocols
Qualifications
- Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (New York state preferred/required)
- Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination and seasonal influenza vaccination as required by the facility
- Successful completion of a Trinity 10 Panel drug screen prior to start
- Previous long-term care experience is a plus and helps you hit the ground running
- Strong communication, patience, and a team-oriented attitude
- Current CPR/BLS certification recommended (check facility requirements)
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved CNA training program and current CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of ADLs, resident-centered care, and basic clinical observations
- Familiarity with long-term care routines and infection control practices
- Ability to document care accurately and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
- Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with residents and families
