Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, elder-centered personal care and assistance with activities of daily living
- Deliver routine daily nursing care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
- Follow each elder’s individualized care plan and document care accurately
- Use the GRH Skills Checklist and other facility tools to ensure quality care standards
- Communicate respectfully and clearly with elders, families, and the care team
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and adhere to infection control procedures
- Participate in required screenings, fit testing, and health checks to keep residents safe
Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential (current)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Active listing on the Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry (required)
- Ability to pass GRH drug screen, TB testing, fit test, and other health screenings
- Comfort working under the supervision of a licensed nurse and following care plans
- Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with strong communication skills
Education
- CNA certification (required)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Elder-centered care principles and respect for resident choices
- Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic nursing care
- Accurate documentation and reporting of resident status and care provided
- Infection control, safety practices, and adherence to facility protocols
- Teamwork, time management, and the ability to follow delegated tasks
- Familiarity with long-term care workflows and resident-centered philosophy
