Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, expert critical care nursing for ICU patients during night shifts
- Continuously monitor and assess patient status, recognizing subtle changes and escalating concerns promptly
- Implement complex nursing interventions, titrate medications per protocols, and manage advanced equipment safely
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient-centered care
- Perform accurate, timely documentation and handoffs to ensure continuity and safety
- Participate in emergency response (code blue, rapid response) and maintain ACLS/BLS readiness
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans with clarity and empathy
- Adhere to infection control practices and facility policies to protect patients and staff
Qualifications
- Current, active Registered Nurse license (Nursys verification required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS and DCI/BVP preferred/required as noted
- Completion of facility-required Prime testing and competency checklists (Basic Pharmacology, Core Competencies, Skills Checklist, Specialty Exam)
- Up-to-date health screenings and immunizations as listed (COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, TB test, Varicella, Tdap, drug screen, fit test)
- Experience in ICU or critical care nursing preferred — comfort with high-acuity patients and complex monitoring
- Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently on night shift
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care assessment and prioritization for acutely ill adults
- Familiarity with ACLS algorithms and emergency interventions
- Stroke assessment knowledge (NIHSS) and related care considerations
- Competency with medication administration, titration, and intravenous therapies
- Accurate electronic medical record documentation and handoff practices
- Team-centered communication and collaboration in fast-paced environments
- Adherence to infection control and workplace safety standards
