Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, patient-centered care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and promptly communicate significant changes to physicians
- Perform thorough patient assessments and document clinical findings accurately
- Deliver patient and family education to support recovery and safe discharge
- Direct and guide nursing personnel and support staff on the unit to maintain standards of care
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions
- Participate in required competency testing and skills validation to maintain specialty proficiency
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Nursys verification as required)
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- DCI/BVP certification required
- Experience in Telemetry and Medical-Surgical nursing or equivalent competency preferred
- Successful completion of drug screening, immunizations, fit testing and required health screenings
- Willingness to complete Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
- Strong patient assessment and clinical observation skills
- Clear communication with physicians, patients, and interdisciplinary team members
- Patient and family teaching skills
- Ability to prioritize and respond to acute changes in condition
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation standards
- Teamwork, critical thinking, and strong situational awareness
