Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support safe mobility and transfers while encouraging independence
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Help with meal setup and feeding support as needed, honoring dietary needs
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident interactions
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to residents
• Follow infection control, safety protocols, and individualized care plans
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, person-centered care

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent
• Active Maryland GNA registration or ability to obtain state certification
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatrics is a plus
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by facility
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-first attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Working knowledge of basic nursing care and geriatric needs
• Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
• Good documentation skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a care team
• Empathy, patience, and strong observational skills
