Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming
- Monitor and document vital signs, intake and output, and daily observations accurately
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to residents and families
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
- Report changes in condition promptly to the RN and participate in care planning
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure continuity of care and positive resident outcomes
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification or equivalent (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) in the state of Maryland or eligible to obtain
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and skilled in respectful, patient-centered care
- Ability to complete required background checks, health screenings, and a drug test
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently during night shifts
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common chronic conditions
- Ability to take and document vital signs and basic clinical observations
- Strong communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and team members
- Familiarity with infection control practices and safe resident handling techniques
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong attention to detail
- Basic charting and documentation skills
