Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming
• Monitor and document vital signs, intake and output, and daily observations accurately
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to residents and families
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
• Report changes in condition promptly to the RN and participate in care planning
• Collaborate with the care team to ensure continuity of care and positive resident outcomes

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification or equivalent (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) in the state of Maryland or eligible to obtain
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working with older adults and skilled in respectful, patient-centered care
• Ability to complete required background checks, health screenings, and a drug test
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently during night shifts

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common chronic conditions
• Ability to take and document vital signs and basic clinical observations
• Strong communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and team members
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safe resident handling techniques
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong attention to detail
• Basic charting and documentation skills
