Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting — with dignity and compassion
• Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Observe, record, and report changes in a resident’s condition to nursing staff promptly
• Take and document vital signs, intake/output and other routine clinical measures
• Help with meal setup and feeding assistance while respecting dietary needs and preferences
• Create meaningful interactions — engage residents socially and provide emotional support
• Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety procedures
• Collaborate with the care team to ensure continuity and quality of care

Qualifications

• Current GNA / Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification valid in the assignment state
• CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen per facility policy
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB testing as required by the facility
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a compassionate bedside manner
• Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA training program and current certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic nursing assistant duties and elder care best practices
• Proficient in taking and documenting vital signs and basic clinical observations
• Familiarity with infection prevention, hand hygiene, and PPE use
• Ability to follow care plans, report changes, and collaborate with nursing staff
• Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
• Respectful, patient-centered communication and cultural sensitivity
