Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with compassion and respect
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Take and record vital signs, report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
- Provide meaningful companionship and engage residents in social and therapeutic activities
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively during shift handoffs
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification in the state of Maryland (required)
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB test as required by facility
- Background check and drug screen clearance
- Comfortable working with geriatric populations and able to lift/move residents as needed
- Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset
Education
- GNA certification (required)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and elder-centered approach
- Skilled in ADLs, transfers, and safe patient handling
- Ability to accurately measure and record vital signs and basic observations
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with charting practices
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Awareness of infection control practices and safety procedures
