Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with compassion and respect
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Take and record vital signs, report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
• Provide meaningful companionship and engage residents in social and therapeutic activities
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively during shift handoffs
• Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification in the state of Maryland (required)
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB test as required by facility
• Background check and drug screen clearance
• Comfortable working with geriatric populations and able to lift/move residents as needed
• Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset

Education

• GNA certification (required)
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and elder-centered approach
• Skilled in ADLs, transfers, and safe patient handling
• Ability to accurately measure and record vital signs and basic observations
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with charting practices
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Awareness of infection control practices and safety procedures
