Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Perform routine vital signs, document observations, and maintain accurate care records
• Support mealtime assistance and basic feeding needs while encouraging independence
• Follow infection control practices and facility policies to maintain a safe environment
• Engage residents with respectful communication and meaningful interaction to promote wellbeing

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB test per facility policy
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required
• Comfort working overnight shifts and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
• Strong patient-focused attitude, good communication skills, and reliable attendance

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Fundamentals of geriatrics and compassionate resident-centered care
• Safe resident transfers, mobility assistance, and fall prevention techniques
• Basic vital signs measurement and documentation in electronic or paper charting
• Infection control, hand hygiene, and standard precautions
• Ability to follow care plans and communicate changes to licensed nursing staff
• Calm, patient approach when working with residents with dementia or cognitive challenges
