Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor respiratory status of patients, using clinical judgment to guide care plans
- Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory therapies with attention to safety and best practices
- Perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpret results to optimize patient ventilation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support critical care and step-down patients
- Educate patients and families on respiratory techniques and equipment use with compassion
- Document care thoroughly and accurately in the electronic medical record
- Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment to ensure reliable, safe operation
- Respond quickly and effectively to respiratory emergencies and code situations
Qualifications
- Active Respiratory Therapist license or eligible for licensure in New Hampshire
- NBRC credentialing such as RRT or CRT preferred
- BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or obtainable
- Experience with ventilator management and critical care respiratory therapy
- Comfortable working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
Education
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program required
- Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management and advanced airway care
- Arterial blood gas analysis and interpretation
- Oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication delivery, and pulmonary hygiene techniques
- Infection control practices specific to respiratory care
- Familiarity with EMR documentation and clinical workflows
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, acute care environment
