Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect perioperative patient care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate across the lifespan
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons and anesthesiologists to ensure smooth, safe surgical experiences
• Direct and guide OR technicians and other personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards
• Maintain unit organization and efficient patient flow to support high-quality surgical services
• Adhere to hospital regulations, standards, and unit policies to keep patients and staff safe
• Participate in performance improvement activities, unit meetings, and in-services to advance care quality
• Serve as a resource for colleagues and contribute to a collaborative, supportive team culture

Qualifications

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Current BLS (AHA) required upon hire and must be maintained
• Current ACLS (AHA) required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained
• Current PALS (AHA) required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained
• Minimum of one year of perioperative experience or willingness to complete on-the-job training
• CNOR (AORN) certification preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Must be able to take call
• Successful Nursys verification, drug screening, fit test, and required immunizations

Education

• Current RN license required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Patient assessment and the nursing process across neonates to older adults
• Care coordination and effective communication with surgical teams
• Operating room workflow, instrumentation, and surgical services
• Ability to lead and delegate to OR technicians and support staff
• Familiarity with performance improvement processes and unit-based competencies
• Strong documentation skills and attention to policy and regulatory compliance
