Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to telemetry alarms
- Triage and stabilize emergency department patients as needed using ED experience
- Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
- Perform NIHSS stroke assessments and participate in stroke protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and multidisciplinary teams for coordinated care
- Maintain clinical competencies through required exams and skills checklists
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and all hospital policies
Qualifications
- Current Illinois RN license (IL RN license required)
- Minimum two years of Emergency Department (ED) experience
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- NIHSS Stroke certification required
- CPI and NRP certifications required or active
- Ability to pass drug screen, TB testing, and required immunizations
- Nursys enrollment and successful license/certificate verification
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills
- Experience in Medical-Surgical and Emergency Department nursing
- Proficient in stroke assessment (NIHSS) and acute response protocols
- Skilled in medication administration, IV therapy, and emergency interventions
- Solid clinical judgment, critical thinking, and prioritization under pressure
- Effective communication and teamwork across multidisciplinary teams
- Comfortable with electronic health records and clinical documentation
