Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform continuous telemetry and cardiac monitoring to identify changes in patient status
• Conduct thorough assessments and implement nursing interventions for ortho and neuro inpatients
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document in the patient record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Respond promptly to rapid responses and emergent situations following ACLS/BLS protocols
• Float to like-kind units as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care
• Complete required Prime competency exams and skills checklists to demonstrate clinical readiness
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and communicate changes to the care team

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license valid for practice in Illinois (or eligible for Illinois licensure)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS and DCI/BVP certifications as listed
• Active Nursys registration or ability to register
• Ability to complete Prime Basic Pharmacology, Specialty, Core Competencies exams and skills checklist
• Willingness to pass required health screenings and immunizations (drug screen, TB, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hep B, influenza, Varicella, Tdap, fit testing)
• Prior telemetry or inpatient nursing experience preferred, especially in ortho or neuro units
• Comfort floating to similar units and working every other weekend/holiday rotation

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Inpatient nursing workflows for ortho and neuro patients
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking
• Medication administration and IV management
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Effective communication and teamwork in multidisciplinary settings
• Ability to manage multiple patients safely in a telemetry setting
• Competence with hospital safety, infection control, and occupational health requirements
