Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate emergency care for adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced ED
- Rapidly assess, triage and prioritize patients to ensure timely, evidence-based interventions
- Administer advanced life support measures and medications in accordance with ACLS/PALS/NRP protocols
- Perform focused neurological assessments including NIHSS for suspected stroke patients
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—physicians, techs, and support staff—to coordinate patient care
- Accurately document assessments, interventions and patient responses using required systems and checklists
- Maintain readiness for emergencies by staying current on skills checklists and Prime competency exams
- Contribute to quality improvement efforts and a culture of patient safety in the ED
Qualifications
- Active IL RN license (Nursys verification required)
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Current PALS and NRP certifications
- NIHSS Stroke certification required
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification required
- Completion of required pre-employment screening: drug screen, immunizations, TB testing, and Fit Test
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong ED nursing and critical care skills with comfort managing high-acuity patients
- Proficient in stroke assessment (NIHSS) and emergency protocols
- Competent in rhythm interpretation and basic pharmacology
- Familiarity with Prime testing and required competency exams
- Excellent clinical judgment, triage skills, and the ability to prioritize under pressure
- Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced emergency setting
