Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for neuro stepdown patients
• Perform thorough neurologic assessments and monitor changes using NIHSS
• Administer medications, treatments, and protocols safely and accurately
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient care plans
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Complete required competency exams, skills checklists, and documentation in Prime
• Support unit staffing needs by floating to like-kind units when appropriate

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (Nursys verification listed)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS certification or demonstrated proficiency in stroke assessment
• DCI/BVP certification as listed in job requirements
• Successful completion of Prime Basic Pharmacology, Specialty, Core Competencies, and Skills Checklist
• Current health screenings and immunizations as required (TB, COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap, fit testing, drug screen)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neuro stepdown clinical skills, including neurologic monitoring and stroke care
• Telemetry familiarity and post-acute neuro monitoring
• Proficiency with Prime learning and competency systems
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to prioritize and manage care in a fast-paced stepdown environment
• Attention to detail for medication administration and documentation
