Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-operative and stepdown nursing care to adults in a surgical stepdown setting
• Assess, monitor and respond to changes in patient condition using evidence-based practice
• Administer medications and therapies safely and document care accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Perform required competency exams and skills checklists to maintain clinical readiness
• Float to similar units or related specialties within your scope when needed to support patient care
• Participate in every other weekend and holiday rotation to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current RN license (verification via Nursys required)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification required
• Ability to pass Prime drug screening, color-blind test and required competency exams
• Up-to-date immunizations and health requirements including COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap and TB testing as required by employer

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid clinical skills in surgical stepdown care and post-op monitoring
• Proficiency with cardiac and neurological assessments and documentation
• Comfortable managing IV medications, drains and post-op complications
• Strong communication skills for bedside reporting and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Adaptability to float to related units and handle variable shift patterns
• Commitment to maintaining competencies through required testing and checklists
