Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring patients throughout labor and delivery
• Continuously monitor fetal heart tracings and maternal status using Fetal Heart Monitoring
• Respond rapidly to obstetric emergencies and collaborate with the team to ensure safe outcomes
• Assist with deliveries and support patients and families through the birthing process
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely
• Educate patients and families on labor progress, postpartum expectations, and newborn care
• Maintain competency through required exams and specialty skill checklists

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (ability to verify license/certificate required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• AWHONN and Fetal Heart Monitoring competency
• DCI/BVP and Nursys credential verification completed
• Completion of required drug screening, health screenings, and fit testing as listed
• Strong clinical judgment and prior experience or interest in Labor & Delivery care

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in maternal-fetal assessment and fetal heart monitoring interpretation
• Proficient in labor support, comfort measures, and assisting in deliveries
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to perform under pressure in urgent obstetric situations
• Familiarity with unit competency exams, skills checklists, and specialty testing
