Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians, delivering safe, evidence-based care
• Assess patients across the lifespan and develop individualized care plans
• Implement prescribed respiratory therapies and monitor patient response
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely
• Maintain required certifications and participate in competency testing and specialty exams
• Serve as Lead RCP during your shift when a supervisor is not present, coordinating care for the department
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize respiratory outcomes and patient safety
• Participate in infection control, equipment maintenance, and quality improvement activities

Qualifications

• State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the NBRC required
• Current BLS (AHA) required upon hire and must be maintained
• ACLS required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained
• PALS required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained
• DCI/BVP certification required
• NRP preferred
• Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor of Science preferred
• 2 years experience as an RCP preferred
• Willingness to complete required pre-employment health screens, drug testing, and immunizations

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred)
• Bachelor of Science (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Respiratory therapy and pulmonary diagnostics
• Patient assessment and age-specific care planning
• Clinical documentation and charting best practices
• Care implementation for acute and chronic respiratory conditions
• Leadership skills for lead RCP/supervisory responsibilities
