Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor fetal heart tracings and interpret fetal status to guide timely interventions
• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care during labor and delivery
• Respond rapidly and calmly to obstetric emergencies and escalate appropriately
• Perform thorough maternal and newborn assessments and document findings accurately
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiology and neonatal teams for coordinated care
• Educate patients and families about labor progress, delivery options and postpartum care
• Complete required competency exams and skills checklists to maintain clinical readiness
• Maintain compliance with required immunizations, fit testing and health screenings

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (California) or eligible for verification
• AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring certification required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• DCI/BVP certification as listed in the job requirements
• Nursys license verification and ability to pass license/certificate checks
• Experience working night shifts and as a per diem clinician preferred
• Willingness to complete Prime Basic Pharmacology, Core Competencies, Specialty and Skills exams
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to complete required health screenings and drug testing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal heart monitoring interpretation skills and AWHONN best practices
• Solid labor and delivery clinical knowledge and maternal/newborn assessment skills
• Ability to function in fast-paced delivery suite environments and handle urgent situations
• Effective communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary obstetric and neonatal teams
• Accurate electronic medical record documentation and care planning
• Comfort with competency-based testing and skills validation processes
