Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality Med-Surg and telemetry nursing care with compassion and clinical excellence
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and EKGs, responding promptly to changes in patient status
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in EPIC
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and update individualized care plans
• Perform timely assessments, administer medications and treatments per policy and protocols
• Float to like units as needed to meet patient care needs while maintaining safety and standards
• Maintain required competencies and complete assigned checklist and specialty exams
• Support a culture of patient safety, infection control and professional accountability

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license with Nursys verification (Illinois licensure expected)
• Current BLS required
• ACLS required
• NIHSS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification required
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record required
• Demonstrated Med-Surg and telemetry experience; ability to perform and interpret EKGs
• Willingness to work every other weekend and every other holiday weekend and to float to like units
• Completion of required health screenings and immunizations (drug screen, TB, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap, fit test)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Med-Surg nursing principles and patient assessment
• Proficient documentation and order entry in EPIC
• Medication administration and basic pharmacology knowledge
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize in a busy environment
• Effective communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
• Familiarity with hospital policies, infection control and safety protocols
