Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, high-quality nursing care to stepdown patients using strong assessment and prioritization skills.
• Monitor telemetry and intervene appropriately for changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications and therapies safely and accurately while following unit protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and update patient care plans.
• Complete timely, accurate documentation in the patient record and communicate handoffs effectively.
• Participate in required competency testing and skills validations to maintain unit readiness.
• Support a safe and positive patient experience by educating patients and families about care plans and discharge needs.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (valid for the state of assignment).
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• PALS and NRP listed as additional credentials (unit-dependent).
• Completion of license/certificate verification and required compliance documentation prior to continuing assignment.
• Health screening and immunizations as required: TB, Fit Test, MMR, Varicella (declination accepted with form), COVID-19 vaccine, influenza, Hepatitis B, Tdap, physical/health statement.
• Successful completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam and Prime Skills Checklist.
• Minimum drug screening (10-panel) and color-blind test as part of onboarding.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and clinical judgment in stepdown-level patient care.
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation.
• Medication administration and IV therapy skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Proficient documentation skills and basic familiarity with electronic medical records.
• Ability to perform under pressure and escalate concerns appropriately.
