Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care for interventional radiology and cath lab patients before, during, and after procedures
• Assess, monitor, and manage critically ill patients with sound clinical judgment and timely interventions
• Respond to on-call emergency cases rapidly and calmly, collaborating with physicians and the care team
• Maintain sterile technique and procedural support during IR/cath lab interventions
• Document clinical findings, interventions, and patient status accurately in the medical record
• Participate in unit-based competency checks (Prime Core Competencies, Prime Skills Checklist) and ongoing professional development
• Educate patients and families about procedures, post-procedure care, and discharge instructions with empathy and clarity

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (IL LICENSE IS REQUIRED)
• BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS and DCI/BVP certification preferred/required per site checklist
• Experience in Interventional Radiology and Cath Lab settings
• Basic critical care experience such as ER or ICU
• Previous on-call experience and comfort responding to emergency cases
• Enrollment/registration through Nursys (per facility requirements)
• Successful completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam and Prime Skills Checklist as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven competence with IR and cath lab workflows and equipment
• Strong critical care assessment skills and ability to prioritize in emergencies
• Familiarity with sterile technique, invasive monitoring, and post-procedure nursing care
• Clear, calm communication with multidisciplinary teams during high-acuity events
• Able to learn and complete facility-specific competency checklists and screening requirements
• Adaptability to rotating schedules and on-call demands
