Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
- Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department and Telemetry as appropriate
- Communicate clinical changes and diagnostic results clearly and promptly to physicians and care teams
- Guide and support patient and family teaching to promote recovery and safety
- Direct and mentor other nursing personnel while maintaining professional standards
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and responses to treatment
- Follow EMTALA regulations and report suspected child or adult abuse to appropriate agencies
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license (Nursys) — must be valid for practice
- Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
- NIHSS and DCI/BVP certifications as listed
- Completion of required Prime exams and skills checklist (pharmacology, rhythm interpretation, specialty and core competencies)
- Ability to provide direct ED patient care and telemetry monitoring
- Strong clinical communication and critical thinking skills
- Compliance with required health screenings and immunizations
Knowledge & Skills
- Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care
- Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
- Medication administration and basic pharmacology knowledge
- Patient and family education best practices
- Clinical communication and reporting
- Infection control and safety procedures
- Familiarity with EMTALA and abuse reporting protocols
- Comfort responding to rapid clinical changes in the ED
