Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department and Telemetry as appropriate
• Communicate clinical changes and diagnostic results clearly and promptly to physicians and care teams
• Guide and support patient and family teaching to promote recovery and safety
• Direct and mentor other nursing personnel while maintaining professional standards
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and responses to treatment
• Follow EMTALA regulations and report suspected child or adult abuse to appropriate agencies
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (Nursys) — must be valid for practice
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
• NIHSS and DCI/BVP certifications as listed
• Completion of required Prime exams and skills checklist (pharmacology, rhythm interpretation, specialty and core competencies)
• Ability to provide direct ED patient care and telemetry monitoring
• Strong clinical communication and critical thinking skills
• Compliance with required health screenings and immunizations

Knowledge & Skills

• Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care
• Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• Medication administration and basic pharmacology knowledge
• Patient and family education best practices
• Clinical communication and reporting
• Infection control and safety procedures
• Familiarity with EMTALA and abuse reporting protocols
• Comfort responding to rapid clinical changes in the ED
