Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' functional abilities and needs using evidence-based OT evaluations
- Develop individualized treatment plans that promote independence and meaningful participation
- Deliver therapeutic interventions to address ADLs, mobility, cognition, and upper-extremity function
- Collaborate with nurses, PT, SLP and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
- Document progress clearly and timely, ensuring regulatory and facility compliance
- Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive techniques, and safety
- Participate in discharge planning and coordinate referrals for continued care when needed
Qualifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist in California (current, unrestricted)
- NBCOT (OTR) certification preferred or active state registration
- BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- Experience in rehabilitation or post-acute care settings preferred
- Strong clinical reasoning, patient-centered approach, and teamwork skills
- Ability to provide compassionate care across a diverse patient population
Education
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD) preferred
- Graduation from an accredited occupational therapy program
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in OT evaluations, ADL retraining, splinting basics and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Solid documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
- Excellent communication and patient/family education abilities
- Knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and patient handling techniques
- Comfort working in a fast-paced rehab environment with interdisciplinary collaboration
