Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function using evidence-based assessments
- Develop individualized treatment plans and set measurable, patient-centered goals
- Deliver skilled therapy interventions and adjust plans based on patient progress
- Document patient care accurately and timely to meet facility and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians and family members to support coordinated care and safe discharge planning
- Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to maximize communication and swallowing safety
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute clinical insights to improve outcomes
Qualifications
- Valid California Speech-Language Pathology license or eligibility to obtain state licensure
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders
- ASHA CCC-SLP is preferred or in progress
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willing to obtain)
- Comfortable with clinical documentation and electronic health records
- Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
- Previous experience in post-acute, rehab, or inpatient settings is a plus
Education
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent graduate degree)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assessment and treatment of dysphagia and safe swallowing strategies
- Proficiency with speech, language, cognitive-communication and voice therapy techniques
- Knowledge of evidence-based intervention and outcome measurement
- Strong clinical reasoning and documentation practices
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team
- Compassionate patient and family education skills
