Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough speech-language evaluations for older adult residents
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans that improve communication, swallowing safety, and overall quality of life
- Document all care and progress accurately using Net Health (training available if needed)
- Collaborate closely with rehab team members, nursing staff, and other healthcare partners to coordinate resident-centered care
- Provide compassionate, professional therapy that supports residents across skilled nursing, personal care, and independent living settings
- Support a positive culture within the therapy department by mentoring colleagues and contributing to problem-solving
Qualifications
- DE SLP license in good standing (required)
- Experience in senior care or working with older adult populations (preferred)
- CPR certification through AHA or The Red Cross (required)
- Two-step PPD / TB skin test within 30 days of start date (required)
- COVID-19 vaccination record or documented exemption (required)
- Background check and fingerprinting clearance (required)
- Comfortable documenting in electronic records (Net Health experience a plus)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; friendly and resident-focused approach
Knowledge & Skills
- Speech therapy evaluations and clinical assessment for adults
- Designing individualized therapy plans and evidence-based interventions
- Skilled documentation practices, particularly in Net Health
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with rehab teams and nursing staff
- Resident-centered care principles and elder-focused communication
- Time management, caseload prioritization, and professional judgment
