Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide full-spectrum physical therapy assessment and treatment for patients across all ages and diagnoses
- Develop and modify individualized plans of care using evidence-based practice
- Document patient progress clearly and promptly in medical records and correspondence
- Deliver therapeutic modalities and exercises including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, whirlpool and hi-lo table use
- Collaborate with medical staff, peers and administrative personnel to optimize patient outcomes
- Respect and incorporate cultural considerations into care for Alaska Native and rural populations
- Adapt care plans for village-based settings using portable equipment and creative problem-solving
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
- Licensed and in good standing as a Physical Therapist in Alaska, or completed FSBPT paperwork to work as a Student Physical Therapist while preparing for licensure
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Hospital-based experience is helpful but not required — new grads welcome
- Comfort working in both hospital and remote village clinic settings
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including cross-cultural communication
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
- Or eligible to work as a Student Physical Therapist with completed FSBPT paperwork while completing licensure requirements
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and development of plans of care
- Therapeutic exercise and use of modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, whirlpool)
- Patient documentation and medical correspondence
- Evidence-based practice and ability to interpret clinical literature
- Cultural competency and ability to work with diverse patient populations
- Basic computer skills: MS Office, email, and internet research
