Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide full-spectrum physical therapy assessment and treatment for patients across all ages and diagnoses
• Develop and modify individualized plans of care using evidence-based practice
• Document patient progress clearly and promptly in medical records and correspondence
• Deliver therapeutic modalities and exercises including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, whirlpool and hi-lo table use
• Collaborate with medical staff, peers and administrative personnel to optimize patient outcomes
• Respect and incorporate cultural considerations into care for Alaska Native and rural populations
• Adapt care plans for village-based settings using portable equipment and creative problem-solving

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
• Licensed and in good standing as a Physical Therapist in Alaska, or completed FSBPT paperwork to work as a Student Physical Therapist while preparing for licensure
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Hospital-based experience is helpful but not required — new grads welcome
• Comfort working in both hospital and remote village clinic settings
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including cross-cultural communication

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
• Or eligible to work as a Student Physical Therapist with completed FSBPT paperwork while completing licensure requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and development of plans of care
• Therapeutic exercise and use of modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, whirlpool)
• Patient documentation and medical correspondence
• Evidence-based practice and ability to interpret clinical literature
• Cultural competency and ability to work with diverse patient populations
• Basic computer skills: MS Office, email, and internet research
