Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, making their comfort a top priority
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
- Take and report vital signs and any changes in condition to the nursing team promptly
- Document care accurately and timely to support continuity and quality of care
- Support mobility and fall-prevention efforts while encouraging independence
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful communication
- Collaborate with nurses and therapists to deliver coordinated, person-centered care
Qualifications
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care or rehabilitation settings is a plus
- Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with strong communication skills
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
Education
- Completion of GNA program or equivalent certification
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic personal care
- Familiarity with infection control and safety best practices
- Good observational skills for noticing changes in resident condition
- Clear communication and teamwork to support the interdisciplinary care team
- Basic charting and documentation skills
