Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, helping with activities of daily living
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Take and accurately record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team
- Document care activities and observations clearly and promptly
- Support a safe, clean, and respectful environment for residents
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
- Participate in care planning and collaborate to meet individualized resident needs
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (required)
- State authorization or eligibility to practice in Maine (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or similar settings preferred
- Strong communication skills, compassion, and the ability to work well in a team
Education
- Completion of a state-approved CNA training program
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with activities of daily living and mobility support
- Knowledge of basic infection control and resident safety practices
- Ability to accurately take and record vital signs and observations
- Good documentation practices and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and a resident-centered approach to care
- Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks during busy shifts
