Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, helping with bathing, dressing and grooming
• Assist with safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Take and document vital signs and routine observations accurately
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents’ dietary needs are met
• Maintain a clean, safe and respectful environment for residents
• Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to protect residents and staff
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful communication

Qualifications

• GNA certification (state-required) — active and in good standing
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required by facility
• Up-to-date immunizations per facility policy (e.g., flu, TB screening) or willingness to comply
• Comfortable working night shifts and providing hands-on resident care
• Kind, patient demeanor with excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification or equivalent credential required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care needs and dignity-focused assistance
• Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, observing skin integrity, reporting changes
• Safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
• Documentation and charting accuracy
• Infection prevention and control practices
