Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents and patients with dignity and respect
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding) to keep people comfortable
• Take and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
• Document care accurately and timely in resident charts and electronic records
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the interprofessional team to ensure coordinated care
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
• Participate in shift handoffs to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification (required)
• Active state CNA registration or ability to obtain/transfer Maine registration
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Comfortable with hands-on resident care and basic clinical tasks
• Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work the scheduled evening shift

Education

• High school diploma or GED (preferred)
• Completion of an approved CNA training program and active certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and patient comfort measures
• Basic vital sign assessment and documentation skills
• Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
• Ability to chart accurately in electronic and paper records
• Good interpersonal skills and teamwork in a fast-paced clinical setting
• Time management and prioritization on a busy unit
