Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, treating each person with dignity
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting)
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
- Support safe mobility and fall-prevention measures while encouraging independence
- Collaborate with nurses and care staff to implement individualized care plans
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
- Accurately document care and communicate clearly with families and team members
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (or state-equivalent nursing assistant certification) required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtained upon hire
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Strong ability to communicate, follow care plans, and work as part of a team
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with resident care
Education
- GNA certification (required)
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and resident-centered approaches
- Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, assisting with ADLs, safe resident handling
- Familiarity with infection control and safety best practices
- Clear communication and compassionate interpersonal skills
- Good documentation and time-management habits
