Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living—bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting—with dignity and respect
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Take and record vital signs and report any changes in condition to the nursing team promptly
• Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful activity
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the resident record
• Follow infection prevention protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists and families to help achieve resident care goals
• Observe and report behavioral or medical changes to ensure high-quality care

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or completion of an approved GNA program
• State-required certification or registration for nursing assistants (where applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Comfortable with physical demands of patient care and transfers
• Compassionate attitude with a commitment to resident-centered care

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA/CNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Foundational knowledge of geriatric care and common age-related conditions
• Ability to perform personal care tasks safely and respectfully
• Basic vital sign measurement and documentation skills
• Familiarity with infection control and patient safety practices
• Good interpersonal and observational skills
• Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks on busy shifts
• Comfortable using electronic or paper charting systems
• Teamwork mindset and clear communication with clinical staff
