Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Lanham, MD
Shift Type: Shift 1, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day shift)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $19 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults to preserve dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
- Help with mobility and transfers safely, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Take and record vital signs, observe changes and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Follow individualized care plans and document care accurately and professionally
- Support the rehab team at Doctor's Rehab by reinforcing therapy goals and encouraging participation
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection prevention standards
Qualifications
- GNA or CNA certification (completion of an approved GNA/CNA program required)
- Active state certification or ability to obtain Maryland certification as required
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred but new grads with strong attitude welcome
- Clear communication skills, compassion, reliability and the ability to work as part of a team
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an accredited GNA/CNA program required
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic personal care
- Comfortable taking and documenting vital signs and observations
- Knowledge of infection control and safe patient handling
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact respectfully with residents and families
- Basic charting/documentation skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow care plans and take direction from licensed nursing staff
