Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living for geriatric residents
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility with dignity and respect
- Monitor and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team promptly
- Document care and observations accurately and timely in resident records
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through clear, empathetic communication
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Class: GNA) required
- Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program or equivalent
- CPR/BLS certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a patient, kind bedside manner
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively in a team-focused setting
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA training program or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and best practices
- Experience assisting with ADLs and mobility support
- Basic vital signs measurement and safety monitoring
- Accurate charting and documentation skills
- Infection control and patient safety awareness
- Strong observational skills and the ability to escalate concerns appropriately
