Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement therapeutic exercises and balance training to help patients regain function
• Assist the Physical Therapist in treatments and follow PT instructions closely
• Perform safe patient transfers from wheelchairs or walkers to therapy areas
• Teach patients and families at-home techniques to extend progress beyond the clinic
• Maintain a clean, organized therapy space and care for therapy equipment
• Complete documentation and scheduling tasks accurately and on time
• Collaborate closely with PTs, nursing, and physicians to adjust care plans as needed

Qualifications

• Active PTA license (must be eligible for Missouri; compact licensure allowed)
• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience — required
• Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or rehabilitation settings — required
• Comfort working with patients across the lifespan and a range of cognitive/neurological diagnoses
• Strong documentation, communication, and family-education skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Therapeutic exercises and ADL training to promote independence
• Patient transfers and safe mobility techniques
• Balance training and fall prevention strategies
• Clear, timely documentation and scheduling practices
• Ability to collaborate effectively with physical therapists and nursing staff
• Comfort teaching patients and families practical, at-home strategies
