Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to residents, assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Assist residents with activities of daily living and promote independence whenever possible
• Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report any changes to the nursing team
• Document care accurately and thoroughly to ensure continuity and safety
• Support safe transfer and mobility practices, using proper body mechanics
• Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through respectful communication
• Participate in care planning and team huddles to deliver coordinated, person-centered care

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain promptly)
• Comfort working with geriatric and long-term care populations
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and respect for older adults
• Previous experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing environment preferred

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited GNA or nursing assistant training program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and elder needs
• Infection control and safe handling procedures
• Ability to accurately take and record vital signs
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident safety
• Friendly, patient-centered communication with residents and families
