Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, helping them feel safe and respected
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming)
• Measure and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team promptly
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Maintain clear, timely documentation of care and resident interactions
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Help create a warm, engaging environment by supporting activities and social interaction

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent required
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
• Comfortable working the posted day shift (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM) and reliable attendance
• Strong interpersonal skills and a respectful, resident-first attitude

Education

• Completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent; High school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient-centered care and basic geriatric needs
• Vital signs, basic clinical observations, and infection control practices
• Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and safe patient handling
• Clear verbal and written communication for handoffs and documentation
• Teamwork, time management, and attention to detail in a long-term care setting
• Basic familiarity with electronic charting or willingness to learn
