Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor resident condition and promptly report any changes to the nursing team
- Perform routine tasks like vital signs, feeding assistance, and safe transfers with proper techniques
- Maintain accurate documentation and care records in a timely manner
- Follow infection control practices and facility policies to ensure a safe environment
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required) — you are trained to provide toileting, bathing, feeding, and basic care
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Comfortable working nights and able to perform physical tasks such as lifts and transfers
- Passion for working with older adults and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Basic clinical skills: taking vital signs, reporting changes, and safe resident handling
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to support residents and staff
- Attention to detail for accurate charting and following care plans
- Ability to prioritize resident safety and infection prevention practices
