Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and mobility support
- Perform routine care tasks such as taking and recording vital signs and reporting changes to the nursing team
- Assist with safe patient transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect patients and yourself
- Document care accurately and timely in the chart to support continuity and quality of care
- Support infection control practices and facility policies to maintain a safe environment
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — required
- Active authorization to practice as a CNA in New Mexico (state registry or equivalent)
- Basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working night shifts (Thursday–Saturday) and functioning independently during overnight hours
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and a teamwork mindset
Education
- Completion of an approved CNA training program
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfort with vital sign measurement and basic clinical observations
- Patient hygiene, ADL assistance, and safe transfer techniques
- Accurate and timely documentation skills
- Infection prevention and standard precautions knowledge
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Good interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and families
