Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, supporting dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Take and record vital signs, observations, and any changes in condition
- Communicate resident needs and changes promptly to nurses and the care team
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control best practices
- Document care accurately and thoroughly to support quality outcomes
- Encourage resident engagement and independence through meaningful interaction
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to support person-centered care
Qualifications
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — Maine certification preferred or eligible to obtain
- Recent CNA experience preferred; new grads who completed a state-approved program are welcome
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtained promptly after hire
- Ability to provide safe patient handling and assist with mobility
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-first attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a state-approved CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Foundations of resident care and activities of daily living
- Accurate vital sign measurement and basic clinical observation
- Infection prevention and safe work practices
- Clear, respectful communication with residents, families, and team members
- Basic documentation skills and attention to detail
- Time management and teamwork in a fast-paced care setting
