Roles & Responsibilities
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans under the supervision of the OTR to help patients regain independence
- Provide hands-on care and therapeutic activities to support ADLs, mobility, and functional goals
- Document patient progress clearly and promptly to keep the care team aligned
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to create meaningful, person-centered plans
- Recommend adaptive equipment and train patients and caregivers on safe use
- Contribute to discharge planning and smooth transitions back to home or next level of care
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
- Active or eligible for Massachusetts licensure as a COTA
- BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) for safe patient care
- Prior experience in inpatient rehab, subacute, or similar settings preferred but enthusiastic new grads are welcome
- Strong communication and documentation skills; team players who love problem-solving
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA/COTA) program
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of therapeutic techniques for improving ADLs and functional mobility
- Skilled at activity analysis and adapting tasks for individual patient needs
- Comfortable with common documentation systems and charting requirements
- Ability to motivate patients and educate families with empathy and clarity
- Good time management and clinical decision-making in a fast-paced rehab setting
