Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality labor & delivery nursing care, collaborating with obstetricians and midwives to support birthing preferences
- Deliver individualized postpartum and mother-baby care, including breastfeeding support with lactation consultants
- Perform newborn stabilization and initial assessments following NRP and STABLE protocols
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using appropriate monitoring equipment and respond to changes promptly
- Coordinate with anesthesia and OR teams for Cesarean births and assist in perioperative nursing tasks when needed
- Document care accurately and maintain timely communication with the interdisciplinary team and families
- Participate in unit-based quality and patient-safety initiatives to improve outcomes and patient experience
Qualifications
- Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license - must be uploaded with profile
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Minimum 2 years current Labor & Delivery experience required
- Postpartum/Mother-Baby (PP/MB) experience required
- Active American Heart Association BLS (AHA) certification required
- Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
- Active STABLE certification required
- Must have reliable personal vehicle for assignment
- Provide at least one supervisory signed reference from within the past two years
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong obstetrics and neonatal care knowledge
- Skilled in mother-baby nursing and lactation support
- Familiarity with fetal monitoring and emergency obstetric procedures
- Ability to work collaboratively with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia and surgical teams
- Excellent patient education and family-centered communication skills
- Competence with clinical documentation and standard hospital workflows
- Calm, decisive clinical judgment in high-acuity situations
