Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Shift Type: Night shift, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (NOC), days vary — schedule details to be confirmed by the facility
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents with dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing and toileting
- Support safe transfers and mobility assistance using proper body mechanics
- Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team
- Document care accurately and timely in resident charts or electronic records
- Help create a warm, home-like environment and engage residents in social activities
- Follow infection control practices and maintain a safe, clean care area
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists and family members to support individualized care plans
Qualifications
- GNA or CNA certification (state-accepted) preferred or required as applicable
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Prior experience in long-term care, geriatric, or skilled nursing settings is a plus
- Ability to pass background check, TB screening and required immunizations
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, repositioning and standing for shifts
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA/CNA certification (as required by state/facility)
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL assistance, safe transfers
- Familiarity with infection prevention and safety procedures
- Comfortable with documentation and following care plans
- Teamwork mindset and good communication with residents and colleagues
- Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs during a busy shift
