Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing and toileting
• Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff to ensure safety
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Document care accurately and timely to keep the care team informed and continuity strong
• Create a warm, respectful environment that preserves dignity and encourages resident independence
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists and family members to deliver person-centered care

Qualifications

• Valid GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent state certification
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain quickly
• Ability to pass background check, TB screening and any required health screenings
• Comfortable with physical aspects of the role including lifting and assisted transfers
• Excellent communication skills and a gentle, patient approach to care
• Experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus but enthusiasm and a caring attitude matter

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic resident care
• Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
• Skill in taking and reporting vital signs and observations
• Ability to document care clearly and accurately
• Teamwork, time management and strong interpersonal skills
• Basic understanding of mobility assistance and fall prevention techniques
