Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert critical care to CVICU, Neuro, Medical and Surgical ICU patients, delivering calm leadership in high-acuity situations
- Manage ventilators and respiratory support for ventilated patients with precision and safety
- Operate and monitor hemodynamic support devices including IABP and Impella, and provide post-CABG postoperative care
- Perform continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT/Prismaflex) management and troubleshoot therapy needs
- Care for patients with intracranial pressure monitoring and external ventricular drains (EVD), and support post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care
- Assist with chest tube insertion/removal and manage chest tube drainage systems
- Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure seamless interdisciplinary communication
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (RT, PT, Pharmacy, Rapid Response) to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain infection prevention and isolation precautions while delivering compassionate patient- and family-centered care
- Float between like units and respond to on-call needs as required by the facility
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (Pending licenses are not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU/CVICU/Neuro/Medical-Surgical critical care nursing experience
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required/preferred
- Demonstrated experience with 1:2 patient ratios in high-acuity settings
- Hands-on experience with ventilator management, CRRT (Prismaflex), EVD/ICP monitoring, chest tube care, and hemodynamic devices (IABP, Impella)
- Comfort floating between like units and accepting on-call responsibilities
- Ability to work nights (12-hour shifts) and every-other-weekend coverage
- Epic charting experience preferred
Education
- Active RN licensure required (pending not accepted)
- Nursing education sufficient for RN licensure (diploma/ADN/BSN) — specific degree not specified in posting
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of critical care principles for CVICU and Neuro ICU patients
- Proficiency in ventilator management and respiratory care for complex patients
- Skill with CRRT (Prismaflex) setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Experience managing intracranial pressure monitoring and EVD care
- Familiarity with chest tube management and post-op thoracic care
- Understanding of hemodynamic support devices including IABP and Impella
- Solid infection prevention and isolation precautions practices
- Comfortable with Epic electronic charting and accurate documentation
- Ability to triage, prioritize, and respond to rapid changes in patient condition
