Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to elderly residents with dignity and respect
- Assist with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report any changes to nursing staff
- Support meal assistance and ensure residents receive proper nutrition
- Maintain accurate documentation and assist with routine charting
- Help create a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or equivalent (required)
- Demonstrated experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings (TB, immunizations)
- Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate demeanor
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with resident care (lifting, transferring)
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an accredited GNA program required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Comfortable with personal care tasks and mobility assistance
- Good observational skills to notice changes in resident status
- Ability to follow care plans and communicate effectively with nursing staff
- Familiarity with infection control practices and safe handling techniques
