Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric surgical oncology and PCU patients
• Administer chemotherapy and manage blood transfusions following unit protocols
• Manage complex IV therapies including insulin and heparin drips and IV antibiotics
• Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias; initiate appropriate dysrhythmia management
• Perform chest tube care and Emerson/PleurEvac management when required
• Follow strict infection prevention protocols and participate in fall-prevention efforts
• Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (pharmacy, PT, respiratory, social work, rapid response) for optimal patient outcomes
• Assist with orientation and precepting when needed and float to other acute oncology units as required

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state-appropriate) required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical RN experience required; PCU experience required
• BLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Proficiency with EPIC charting required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, blood transfusions, and chemotherapy administration
• Comfort working night shifts and the ability to float to other acute care oncology units

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Chemotherapy administration and oncology patient care
• IV therapy management including insulin and heparin drips
• Chest tube care (Emerson/PleurEvac) and post-op surgical care
• Infection prevention protocols and fall risk mitigation
• Experience with Alaris infusion pumps, bladder scanners, B450/GE telemetry systems, and Stryker beds
• Strong EPIC documentation skills and interdisciplinary communication
