Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess neurological status using NIHSS and provide high-quality neuro stepdown care
- Document patient care and assessments accurately and efficiently in EPIC
- Provide advanced cardiac and respiratory monitoring and intervene per ACLS protocols when needed
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team to create and execute patient care plans
- Educate patients and families about neurological conditions and recovery expectations
- Maintain thorough, gap-free work history and required documentation for assignment continuity
- Support unit flow by assisting with admissions, transfers, and timely handoffs
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Nursys license verification required)
- NIHSS must be included in CV packet to be considered
- Minimum 2 years experience in neuro specialty (neuro stepdown required)
- EPIC experience required—please note EPIC on your profile
- ACLS certification required
- Strong med/surg background with stepdown exposure may be considered if NIHSS and ACLS are present
- Complete candidate profile: resume/work history with no gaps greater than 60 days, skills checklist, references, certification card, and badge-appropriate picture
Knowledge & Skills
- NIHSS neurological assessment and stroke care processes
- Neuro stepdown patient management and monitoring
- Proficient documentation and order entry in EPIC
- ACLS emergency response and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Medical-surgical fundamentals and stepdown nursing experience
- Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
